Employment Services Mission Statement
The mission of Employment Services in Human Resources at the University of Idaho is to support the University’s strategic initiatives of becoming an employer of choice in education and recruiting and retaining the highest quality faculty and staff.
The Employment Services Team serves as consultants and advisors to hiring administrators. Employment Services provides recruiting and advertising strategies to enhance the diversity and quality of applicants by providing guidance and support in the hiring process; assessing the needs of the University to develop and enhance policies and procedures; facilitating career advancement opportunities at the University; and analyzing positions to ensure correct classification, compensation, and appropriate job-person fit.
In keeping with our mission and philosophy of attracting and retaining the best employees, we submit the following objectives to support the initiative of becoming an employer of choice in education.
Empowering all employees of the University by:
- Providing employment related training and education on the services and resources available
- Creating career development opportunities within job classifications
Eliminating inefficiencies and duplication by:
- Reviewing all policies and processes within ES and coordinating with other departments and HR Teams
- Analyzing position requirements, making enhancements and providing consistency
Ensuring a healthy, safe, and secure work environment by:
- Conducting background checks on new hires for security-sensitive positions
- Implementing pre-employment medical screening
Evaluating team effectiveness by:
- Using feedback to continue process enhancement for Employment Services
- On-going self-assessment to align our objectives with the University initiatives
Enjoy and celebrate our successes by:
- Conducting Team recognition
- Providing spontaneous notes of thanks and congratulatory statements to each other
