New Federal Rules Require Redocumenting Workforce
The University of Idaho's status as a major research university attracts nearly $100 million in grants and contracts bringing with it prestige, but also responsibility.
On September 8, 2009, the new federal law takes effect. As soon as the University is awarded its first contract that includes the E-Verify Clause, Human Resources has 180 days in which to E-Verify the entire UI workforce.

Employees Exempt from this Rule
Two groups of employees are exempt from the new E-Verify mandate.
- Employees hired before November 7, 1986, without an I-9 on file.
- Employees hired for the first time on or after January 28, 2008. (These employees have already been e-verified by the university.)
The University's Human Resources team will provide updates as this process moves forward.
